EXPLORE OUR TRAILS

Discover the natural beauty of Bearberry Cabins on our well-maintained trails, perfect for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. With various distances and levels of difficulty, these trails offer something for everyone, from leisurely walks to more challenging adventures. Climb as high as 1,600 meters (4,600 feet) and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Please note that motorized vehicles such as snowmobiles and side-by-side ATVs are not permitted on our trails within the premises to preserve the peaceful environment. If you wish to enjoy these activities, they can be used on Crownland located just outside our property.

HORSEBACK RIDING

Bring your own horse and go for a trail ride. Corrals with waterer are available, feed can be provided for an additional fee.

WINTER ACTIVITIES

As soon as the first snow is on the ground we start grooming our trails. We provide different distances and degrees of difficulties - on approx. 25 km groomed trails all on the property. We groom our trails for skating technique as well as the classical track set. Bring your own ski's or rent a package at our place.

SNOWMOBILING

Snowmobiling on our designated trail system is not permitted but you can gain access from our premises and go into the forestry behind our property with abundant kilometers of trails to explore.

There is a lot more to do in our area during the winter time like

Dog Sledding – you can use our ungroomed trails on the property or mush on the frozen James River.

Snow-Shoeing – hike on our trails or the frozen rivers and creeks with snow-shoes and discover untouched areas.

Ice-Fishing – at the river and at the lakes nearby. Please ask for regulations in the area and for information about licenses.

Down Hill Skiing – at Lake Louise, Banff, Jasper or Kananaskis within a 3hr drive.

BIRD WATCHING

Come and enjoy some great bird watching. Explore the home of multiple species of water fowl including ducks, geese, heron, and swans; marsh and songbirds like meadowlarks, canaries, and blackbirds; birds of prey such as eagles and hawks; and game birds like grouse, partridge, pheasant, and quail. Even hummingbirds find their way to our place.

THE FOOTHILLS AREA

Get away from the crowds of the National Parks and explore the West Country around the Bearberry community, which is located west of Sundre and near to natural attractions such as Ya Ha Tinda ranch, Burnstick lake and Ram falls. With a little luck you will meet an abundance of deer, elk and wild horses in their natural environment.

STUNNING SCENERY

Our property is for the nature enthusiast, lots of trees, open ranges, mountain views, the James river wandering through, springs and creek feeding several ponds.

Does this look like fun? Check out our accomodations.

WOOD HEATED SAUNA

Our sauna has the best clear cedar wood. It has Interior light, a window, temperature gauge, four benches, rocks, air vents, bucket and ladle. With the rent of one of our cabins you can relax in our soothing wood heated sauna.

COZY FIREPLACE

One of the most soothing sounds is the crackling that fire makes. For an even more relaxing experience, turn the lights off and enjoy the sounds of nature that a fireplace creates.

NO SHOOTING POLICY

For the safety and enjoyment of all our guests, Bearberry Cabins maintains a strict no-shooting policy on the premises. While we appreciate the rise in outdoor activity advertisements, including shooting, we prioritize creating a peaceful, relaxing environment for everyone. If you're interested in hunting or shooting activities, please explore designated areas outside our property that are permitted for these purposes. Thank you for respecting our policy and helping to keep Bearberry Cabins a safe and serene retreat.
